In the first part of our trip we will visit the French Riviera, where we hope to see Monaco (the French Monaco, not Munich!), Nice and Cannes, and where Phil plans to enjoy all the people sunbathing on the sandy(?) beaches. We then travel to Albertville and become Tour de France groupies for 12 days. We'll see two stages, and will climb many of the climbs in the tour. From there, we'll head back to Paris for three days to see a few of the sites and the finish of the TdF (TIOOYK) on the Champs Elysee. While in the Alpes, we'll be on a tour sponsored by the Bicycle Outfitter, our local bike shop, and led by Dick and Marilyn Powell, the owners. It's a supported tour, similar in structure to the tour we went on in Italy. For those who want to follow the itinerary of the Tour de France, their web site is quite good. For the rest of the time, we'll be traveling by train. I'll be able to compare the French and Italian rail systems when the tour is done.
